If you live in an apartment in Raleigh, NC you can celebrate the 10th Annual New River Gorge Earth Day Celebration in downtown Fayetteville on April 25. The festival will be replete with beautification projects, live music, food and workshops for the entire family.
Event coordinator April Storm said the Fayette County Green Advisory Team and Plateau Action Network are teaming up to make this year's celebration the biggest and best yet.
The celebration kicks off with a Stream Cleanup at 8:30 a.m. Those wishing to participate should meet at the corner of Gatewood and Cunard roads in Fayetteville. The cleanup will last until noon.
"Keeping a community cleaned up and keeping it looking attractive shows the community is involved and interested in their surroundings and the place they live," said Sally Kiner, executive director of the Historic Fayetteville Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Main festivities start at noon on the courthouse lawn and run until 4 p.m.
Attendees can see educational exhibits on recycling, alternative energy, water conservation, sustainability, agriculture and reducing our ecological footprint.
There will also be live music, local farmers, artisans, conservation activities, food and more.
A Kid's Zone will be set up with games and hands-on activities.
Lastly, wind down with a free yoga class for all levels and abilities on the courthouse lawn at 4:30 p.m.
